Councillor Tashia Grace Burris is the Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities & Transportation for the Tobago House of Assembly, appointed in December 2021. A proud mother of two and a passionate advocate for her native Tobago, she is deeply committed to the island's development. Before becoming a Councillor, she served at the Police Complaints Authority and previously worked as a Customer Service Supervisor at the Port Authority of Trinidad & Tobago. Her professional career spans almost 22 years of dedicated service to the people of Tobago in both the private and public sector. Born on September 15, 1985, in Canaan, Tobago, and raised in Scarborough and Sou Sou Lands, Councillor Burris possesses a passion for learning. She graduated as the female valedictorian from Bishop’s High School, Tobago. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Computing & Information Systems and an International Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in International Marketing Management, with distinction. Councillor Burris has a strong record of youth and community service, having worked with several organizations, including the YMCA and the Tobago Youth Council. She is a trained peer educator and has mentored hundreds of young people. Her diverse experiences have shaped her into a thought leader committed to innovation, justice, and equitable development for Tobago.
